The Sustainable Holiday Futures Report - the future of mass tourism 13/12/2010

This week, Bondy helped TUI launch The Sustainable Holiday Furtures Report. Carried out for Thomson Holidays by The Future Laboratory, it predicts that travellers will be able to pick up a Responsible Travel Kit at airports, take Tradecations where they reduce their carbon footprint in return for carbon reward points. Further predictions depict an exciting new generation of eco friendly airships, and the creation of aqua-villages and zero-impact floating resorts, which harvest energy from the sun, wind and rain.
The Sustainable Holiday Futures Report looks as far ahead to the year 2030 to reveal how holidaymakers, tour operators, hotels and resorts must adapt and innovate to save the world’s ever dwindling resources.
It outlines the theory that Sustainable holidays must represent the future of mass tourism or we face a number of bleak scenarios from becoming reality by 2030. These include the loss of world heritage sites such as Venice and the Great Pyramids of Egypt, which are all threatened by the weight of visitor numbers. It also suggests that climate change and over-consumption of water will turn some of our most popular holiday destinations to deserts unless we start acting sustainably on our annual breaks.
Faced with a sobering range of consequences, the travel industry is already responding with innovative and inventive ways of turning mass tourism into part of the solution. From January 2011, Thomson Holidays will become the world’s first travel company to start introducing the unique Waterpebble into its hotel rooms.

Bondy and Thomson Airways kick off integrated campaign for Boeing 787 Dreamliner 20/07/2010
Bondy Consulting and Thomson Airways, the UK launch airline for the revolutionary new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, kick off integrated campaign this week in the build up to the first commercial 787 flight
Thomson Airways, the first UK airline to fly the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has this week launched an integrated campaign with Bondy Consulting and its in-house team, as the aircraft arrives in the UK for the first time at the Farnborough Air Show. Working across broadcast, press and online, the campaign will help build momentum towards first commercial flight in January 2012.
The revolutionary 787 Dreamliner will transform the flying experience by offering passengers more personal space and reduced symptoms of jet lag, dehydration and travel sickness. It's considerable environmental benefits and the ability to travel further on less fuel, means this new aircraft really does represent the future of air travel.
Emma Waddell, Head of PR says:
"As the UK's third largest airline, it is a major coup for Thomson Airways to be the UK launch customer for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner. Out rivalling any other mid-sized aircraft on the market, the customer benefits are unparalleled and it will totally transform the flying experience. We believe it will be the only way to travel long haul in the future and it is important that we shout about it."
Bondy along with the in-house team kicked off the campaign with media events and a celebrity photocall at Farnborough, sponsorship of the new film Legends of Flight 3D at the IMAX Science Museum and the launch of livethedreamliner.co.uk – all under the banner of "Live the Dreamliner".

Freemasons hire fresh PR support in bid to rethink 'secret society' image 23/06/2010

The governing body of Freemasonry in the UK has called in external PR help in a drive to shrug off a 'secret society' image.
Since its inception in the 18th century, the practice of Freemasonry has been well known for allegedly using secret handshakes and other obscure rituals.
But the United Grand Lodge of England is keen to shed more light on its shadowy practices as the organisation approaches its 300th birthday in 2017.
The Lodge, which governs Freemasonry in England, Wales and the Channel Islands, has appointed Bondy Consulting as a retained consultancy to build greater awareness of Free-masonry and ensure the practice's long-term future.
Grand secretary of the United Grand Lodge Nigel Brown said: 'Freemasonry is now run as a modern business and it is important our communication reflects this. Freemasonry plays a unique role in society today and it is vital we encourage people to talk openly about it and dispel the many unfounded myths associated with it.'
Freemasonry has 250,000 members, including 30,000 overseas. It is one of the world's largest non-religious, non-political, fraternal and charitable organisations.
Bondy founder Jessica Bondy said: 'We have been appointed to combat common misconceptions including those of secrecy. There are no secrets in Freemasonry and we need to encourage people to talk openly about it. Information is totally accessible for anyone that wants it and anyone can come into Freemasons' Hall.'
Bondy, a former MD at Ketchum, also said: 'There is no secret handshake – this is one of the myths.'
As part of the PR drive, the agency will also promote Freemasons' Hall, which has featured in a number of Hollywood blockbuster movies.
Bondy was selected after a competitive agency pitch.
